Description
(Brassica rapa) “Very tasty, robust, and resilient” is how Seed Savers Exchange staff describes this loose-heading Chinese cabbage. Its large, vibrant-green leaves grow upright and arching, forming long, cylindrical heads with a very crunchy, juicy texture and a peppery flavor. Plants reach 26″” tall and up to 3′ wide. Leaves become much sweeter after a frost. 75-80 days until heading.”
Instructions- Sow seed indoors 1⁄4″” deep 4-6 weeks before the last frost. Plant out just before the last frost. Take care not to disrupt the shallow root system while transplanting and weeding. Make sure cabbage has a regular supply of water. Mulching cabbage will reduce weeds and keep moderate temperatures and even moisture in the soil. Cabbage is a heavy feeder and consequently needs an even supply of nutrients.
