About Us

Our Store

How To Grow is Rapid City’s largest horticulture supplier and gardening education resource. With a wide variety of products, and decades of indoor and outdoor gardening experience, we are here to help your garden thrive.

We confidently stand behind the products we recommend, which is why we keep a large variety of hydroponic systems on display. You can see and experience them for yourself and we can test products to find the optimal recommendations for their use.

Family owned and operated by local South Dakotans, How To Grow is constantly looking for opportunities to support our local community. Working with programs like Meals on Wheels and the Black Hills Farmers Market, we are proud to see our work directly improving lives through out the Black Hills Area.

About Us

Our Mission

How To Grow was established to provide our community with the tools and knowledge to sustainably grow their own food and medicine. The sustainability and health benefits gained from gardening empower people to live better lives.

Sharing the power of hydroponics, we want everyone to enjoy local produce year round. As South Dakotans, we are aware of the constant struggles of a short growing season and the volatile mid-western weather. These struggles are what drive us to provide the tools and knowledge to keep everyone growing 365 days a year.

With the uncertain times we live in, it has never been more important to have the skills necessary to maintain a sustainable garden. Helping everyone achieve this goal is our passion and we hope to inspire gardeners for generations to come.

Dedicated to Supporting You from Seed to Harvest

How To Grow was an idea sparked by the aspiration to do what we love, every day. With a great passion for growing our own food and medicine, and the desire to ignite the same passion within our community for generations to come, we created a business that we hope will inspire bountiful gardens in our local community and around the country. ~Bradley and Rhea, Founders
